The government has announced the latest divorce law amendments in Pakistan. The amendments are made in order to overcome the challenges faced by new circumstances. The latest divorce law amendments in Pakistan are as below.

OVERSEAS DIVORCE:

The overseas Pakistanis can now process their divorce in Pakistan through lawyers. Divorce is the right of every Pakistani citizen. The Pakistani citizens cannot be restricted from obtaining the divorce only for the reason that they are not in the country. The law now gives the right to the overseas Pakistanis to obtain their Nadra divorce certificate in Pakistan through a lawyer.

DIVORCE CERTIFICATE IS MANDATORY FOR NEXT MARRIAGE:

The latest divorce amendments in Pakistan have made the divorce certificate mandatory for all those divorcees who want to have their next marriage. This certificate is also made mandatory to register their court marriage in Pakistan. Without the divorce certificate, no further marriage will be registered.

THREE DIVORCES AT THE SAME TIME VALID:

The new divorce law amendment in Pakistan validates the three divorces at the same time. The law allows that the male can give three divorces at the same time and put an end to the matrimonial bond; however, he has to obtain the divorce certificate for the next nikahnama registration in Pakistan.

NO STAMP PAPER FOR OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS:

The new divorce law amendments in Pakistan do not make the issuance of stamp paper mandatory for overseas Pakistanis. Those who are not in Pakistan can process their divorce deed on a simple plain paper for the reason that the stamp vendors are not available abroad.

ATTENDANCE:

During the divorce proceedings, the attendance of the male is required, but if the male is abroad, then he can mark his attendance through a lawyer in Pakistan. When a person is not in Pakistan, he has to hire the services of a lawyer through a special power of attorney in Pakistan. This power of attorney gives your lawyer the right to mark your attendance and give statements on your behalf during the divorce proceedings.
