How to Get Pakistani Citizenship & Nationality:

PAKISTANI NATIONALITY BY BIRTH:

Ø  BORN IN PAKISTAN TO PAKISTANI:

A child born in Pakistan whose parents are Pakistani will be considered a Pakistani citizen automatically. The Pakistani born child is given a birth certificate from Pakistan.

Ø CHILD BORN WHEN ONE OF THE PARENTS IS A PAKISTANI:

A child born out of wedlock where one of the parents, either the mother or the father, is a Pakistani can claim their Pakistani nationality.

Ø CHILD BORN ABROAD:

Where a child is born abroad out of wedlock, where one of the parents, either the mother or the father, is Pakistani, the child can claim his Pakistani nationality. Such a child can obtain his Pakistani origin card from the Pakistani embassy or consulate of the country where he is. It is called nationality by descent.

NATIONALITY BY RESIDENCE IN PAKISTAN:

If a foreigner resides in Pakistan for a period of at least three years, they can be eligible to obtain Pakistani nationality. Being eligible does not mean that he becomes Pakistani automatically. After a period of three years, he or she can apply to the Ministry of Interior for nationality by residence. During these years, he should obtain much knowledge about Pakistan and should not be involved in any criminal activities. Anyone who applies for Pakistani nationality in Pakistan should also have the intention to reside in Pakistan permanently. NATIONALITY BY MARRIAGE:

A foreigner married to a Pakistani national can also claim Pakistani nationality by marriage. If a male or a female is married to a Pakistani national, then he or she can apply for Pakistani nationality. Just marrying does not make the foreigner a Pakistani national. After marriage, he or she only becomes eligible. The eligibility criteria include that the foreigner married to a Pakistani should also be residing in Pakistan for a period of at least three years. After the marriage and your residency in Pakistan for three years, you may apply for Pakistani citizenship to the government.

BY INVESTMENT:

The Pakistani government is now also offering Pakistani nationality by investment. If you make an investment in Pakistan of at least 5 million rupees, you can be eligible for Pakistani nationality. The investment required will be an investment in USD, not in Pakistani rupees. Not only Pakistan but also other countries offer nationality by investment or donation.
