CAN NIKAH BE DONE DURING PREGNANCY?

Some females ask us if nikah can be done during pregnancy in Islam. The answer is simple which is NO. The religion Islam forbids a female to get married during the pregnancy period. The reason why Islam forbids a female to marry during pregnancy is that during pregnancy you are still the wife of your husband. Divorce in Islam does not become operational during pregnancy. When you are not divorced from your husband you cannot marry someone else. For a valid divorce, you need to not only give birth to a child but also wait for the three menstrual cycles after the delivery of the child. Islam has kept this restriction so that the husband and wife may once again rejoin instead of ruining the marital life. Islam gives so much importance to the marital relationship so the religion has forbidden the divorce during the pregnancy period. So if you are asking what can nikah be done during pregnancy in Islam the answer will always be NO. Nikah in Pakistan or Islam can only be done with single or divorced women. So when the divorce has not yet been operation due to pregnancy then how come a female can get married during her pregnancy?

WHAT IF A WOMAN GET MARRIED DURING PREGNANCY:

If a woman gets married to someone during his pregnancy with some other person such marriage is void and has no legal value in the eye of the law and Islam. If a married woman married someone during the pregnancy from her first husband then in this case the first husband reserves the right to lodge a Fir against the female. The law is very much clear that a married woman cannot marry during the lifetime of his first husband. Even if the husband pronounces talaq in Pakistan to a female during pregnancy such talaq is no divorce in Pakistan or Islam. Such a talaq will be operational only when the pregnancy is finished and the woman has finished her three menstrual periods. Before finishing the pregnancy and menstrual periods if a woman marries someone she commits a sin and a crime as per Pakistani law. If still someone asks if that can nikah be done during pregnancy in Islam or Pakistan tell them yes you can do it if you do not fear Allah Almighty or the law of the land. If any female married during pregnancy will have to face criminal charges.
